Queen Camilla cancels more events amid recovery from chest infection

Queen Camilla canceled another public event as he continues to recover from a chest infection.

The Palace confirmed the news in a press release on December 2, explaining king charles the wife would not attend the start of a two-day state visit to Qatar on Tuesday.

On the advice of doctors, the Queen and her team have changed their schedule as the royals prepare to welcome the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani.

It is understood that the lingering effects of the chest infection, which was announced publicly on November 5, have left Camila without energy.

However, she is expected to attend the traditional lunch at Buckingham Palace.

On the final day of the visit, the Queen is expected to join King Charles for the farewell.

While the move marks a change in Queen Camilla’s original plans, Buckingham Palace has not announced any updates on her diagnosis or treatment.

State visits usually involve busy schedules and the Queen is understood to be prioritizing her recovery by cutting back.

She reportedly fell ill after returning from visiting Australia and Samoa with the king in October.

Camilla was not present Remembrance Day ceremonies in November, a major event in the royal calendar and also missed the annual Royal Variety Concert last week.

“Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have recommended that after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize adequate rest,” the palace said.

“It is with great regret that she has withdrawn from tonight’s Royal Variety Performance,” the statement said.

“His Majesty will attend as planned.”

The King also attended church at St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham at the weekend and was seen arriving alone, as reported by Hello! Magazine.

It is hoped that Camilla will be well enough to attend the Princess of Wales’ annual Christmas party, which this year will be held on December 6.

Camilla spoke about her ongoing health problems on November 12 during a reception at Clarence House for the Booker Prize Foundation.

“Apparently I’m getting a lot better, I’m coughing a bit,” the Queen noted in a video shared with X.

“I really wanted to come.”

In another conversation, also posted on Xshe was heard saying: ‘I’m fine, these things always take a while to get over. You think you got rid of it, they just stick around for a while.
