Man tries to rob milk bar with paint-spraying water gun

Man wanted after trying to use super soak to rob milk bar Melbourne northeast, in pursuit of a free soft drink.

Police say the man arrived at the milk bar on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road in Hurstbridge, riding an electric scooter, at around 7.20am on Sunday 24 November.

He entered the store and asked the clerk for a free can of energy drink.

When she refused, he demanded cash and then took a large amount of super-soaking liquid from a laptop bag and sprayed white paint on the clerk and around the store.

The member of staff, a 34-year-old woman, tried to restrain the man before he attacked her and pulled the lid, trapping them both inside.

During the attack, the woman managed to move the man’s balaclava, exposing his face briefly to the CCTV camera.

The woman was able to run outside, where the man followed her and allegedly assaulted her again.

She suffered facial injuries and bruising but did not require hospital treatment.

Police say the man fled the scene, without the drink, on what is believed to be a black Hoverfly G4 electric scooter.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as around 175cm tall, of solid build and aged in his 40s.

The man was wearing a black hoodie with white paint on it, dark gray pants, a black LA Raiders hat, black socks and no shoes.
